My scans are located inside walls. What should I do to prepare?

To properly scan within walls, the drywall must be removed on both sides of the wall and the metal track studs must be removed from the floor. If this is not possible, we will provide you with alternatives.

What if my slab was just poured?

It typically takes several months for concrete to reach a low enough moisture content to be scanned properly. We recommend waiting until this wait period is complete before scanning.

What if my scans are located overhead and require a ladder, lift, or scaffolding to reach?

It is the client’s responsibility to provide access to the concrete for proper scanning. If a ladder, lift, or scaffolding is required it should be available on-site at the time the job is scheduled.

What if my locations are on the roof?

If Styrofoam is present, a minimum 2 ½ x 2 ½ foot hole is necessary in order to accommodate the scanning equipment. The radar signal does not reflect off the air that is contained within the Styrofoam.

Can you scan for a saw-cut on slab-on-grade?

Yes, however we cannot guarantee slab-on-grade saw-cuts. This is typical of almost all scanning companies.

How much time do you need to schedule?

We typically ask for at least 48 hours notice, but we understand that situations occur when scans are needed right away and we do our best to accommodate all requests.

My locations have a finished surface/new carpet. They won’t get damaged will they?

No, we will mark the locations using permanent marker, painter’s tape, or pencil, depending on the location.

My project will need be scheduled outside of normal business hours, can you help me?

Yes, but those projects will be billed at after-hours rates.

How deep can GPR see into the concrete?

Optimally we can see 12″ through and 24″ if access to both sides can be provided. However, other factors such as moisture content, aggregate used and the amount of steel encased in the concrete can decrease this value.
